Prof. Dr. Jayme C. Bombo
Is a senior supply chain leader with an extensive and successful career in strategic management consulting and supply management in the pharmaceutical industry. Early in his career, Jayme acted as a principal and one of the leaders in A.T. Kearney’s Operations Management Consulting practice in Latin America. Later, he transitioned to the pharma industry, where he spent 15 years in both regional and headquarters executive roles, the last 8 years as Head of Bristol-Myers Squibb Sourcing and Supplier Management organization in Princeton, USA. During his time, Jayme led a global team responsible for negotiating, contracting, managing supply risks, and developing supplier relationships activities across the company’s annual spend of US$12 billion.
Jayme holds an MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil, during which he participated in an exchange program with MIT - Sloan School of Management MBA in Boston, MA. Jayme also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidade Federal de São Carlos -UFSCar. His extensive experience managing, teaching, researching, writing, and public speaking across a variety of strategic operations management fields include:
- Academic – taught at several pos-graduate courses such as Gestão Estratégica de Compras at Business School São Paulo, Planejamento Colaborativo e Estratégia de Compras at MBA Logistica – IPT/USP, and as a guest speaker in undergraduate classes, such as at FGV-EASP, UFSCar, Universidade Mackenzie.
- Research and Intellectual Capital development in the fields of Operations in Latin America – led several Kearney studies, such as Global Retail Development Index, Assessment on Excellence in Procurement, Logistics Trends in LA, Global Excellence in Operations.
- Publication and citations – over 50 quotes and articles in referred media, such as The New York Times, Bloomberg TV Brazil (several times), Globo News; Revista Exame, Valor Economico, O Estado de São Paulo, Periodico Reforma, TV Canal 11 Mexico.
- Supply Management public speaking – frequent keynote speaker in conferences and schools in Brazil, Mexico, and USA – e.g. Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Procurement Leaders (PL), Procurecon Pharma, Instituto Brasileiro de Supply Chain (Inbrasc).
