RoboFEI@Home

The RoboFEI@Home team, established in 2015 at Centro Universitário FEI, focuses on developing autonomous service robots tailored for domestic environments. With a multidisciplinary approach combining engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence, the team aims to enhance human-robot interaction, navigation, and task execution. Recognized internationally, RoboFEI@Home showcases innovation through participation in competitions like RoboCup and Brazilian Robotics Competitions, continuously improving robotic platforms like HERA and New-HERA to meet real-world challenges.

Five-Time Champion

Secured five first-place titles in the Latin American and Brazilian Robotics Competitions.

World Champion 2022

Achieved the prestigious RoboCup World Championship title in 2022.

Consistent Excellence

Podium finish every year since 2015 in the Latin American and Brazilian Robotics Competitions.

The RoboFEI Project

The RoboFEI project has existed since 2003, when it started to develop and improve robots that competed in the IEEE and RoboCup robot football categories. Today, the project groups students of all levels in one place, bringing undergraduate students in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation and Control, and Mechanical Engineering, closer to the most modern and current results and advances in artificial and robotic intelligence.

User-centered practices for the development of interactive robots

This article examines the application of usability engineering principles in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), emphasizing their role in designing intuitive and accessible robotic systems. It highlights the benefits of these methodologies in enhancing usability and user experience, fostering seamless integration between robots and users.

Object Segmentation with Point Cloud for Service Robot Manip.

This project explores point cloud techniques for object segmentation, enabling autonomous robots to identify and manipulate objects in unknown environments based on their geometric characteristics. Through experimental analysis and simulations, it aims to develop a robust and efficient method, advancing the field of autonomous service robotics.

The Synergy Between AI and Environmental Perception: GPT/YOLO

This paper explores the integration of AI technologies like GPT Vision and YOLO v8 in robotics, highlighting their complementary strengths in enhancing perception and interaction capabilities. It emphasizes the potential of combining these technologies to advance autonomous robotics and revolutionize human-machine interaction through adaptive and multimodal approaches.

HERA 2026
HERA:
The Home Environment Robot Assistant

It operates autonomously and intelligently in a residential environment, interacting with people, objects and equipment. HERA, according to the Greek mythology, was the queen of Olympus, also known as the protective goddess of marriage, life and women, and ruled Olympus alongside her husband Zeus.

HERA features new advancements in its functionality. Its suite of sensors and software components allow customization in the interactive process, being dedicated to performing service tasks in a home or commercial environment.

Its operation consists in mapping environments, following people, taking a visitor from point A to point B while indicating the name of the rooms which it has passed through, and many others. In addition to these functions, HERA also has the ability to identify health states such as sick people, find and take medicine and water, and monitor the medication schedule, all of this through voice commands or acquired knowledge..
