Event

About this event

The rapid technological development of hardware, especially professional cameras and smartphones has driven the demand for solutions to our day-to-day entertainment, security, industrial production and medicine. Consequently, the area of Computer Vision has grown, becoming a strategic demand in any country.

Under this context the WVC’2023 - XVIII Workshop on Computational Vision - brings to the discussion works developed in Universities and Centers of Research worldwide, aiming to boost research groups in this área in the generation of ideas and in the divulgation of work done or in progress. We hope, therefore, that the effort of each one of us in the organization of this event, is a demonstration that science and technology have a promising future in our country. The WVC'2023 will host several activities aimed primarily at disseminating and analyzing the growth of the area of computer vision worldwide.

CTDVC 2023

About this event

The 2nd Contest of Thesis and Dissertations in Computer Vision (Concurso de Teses e Dissertações em Visão Computacional - CTDVC 2023) aims to disseminate postgraduate research in the fields of Computer Vision and Image Processing awarding the best doctoral theses and master's dissertations completed, defended and approved in Brazil in the last year.

The theses and dissertations will be selected for publication and presentation based on their impact for society and for companies, as well as a significant and outstanding contribution to the scientific area.

Awards

Up to six papers corresponding to the three best doctoral theses and the three best master's dissertations will be awarded. These works must necessarily be presented by the author or his/her advisor at the XVIII Workshop de Visão Computacional (WVC 2023), in a special session.

Participants

Doctors and masters in any knowledge area can submit papers for this contest, as long as their research have been developed with Computer Vision and Image Processing. Their theses or dissertations must have been defended in Brazil, from January 1st 2021 to September 30st 2023*.

*Only theses or dissertations that have not been submitted for WVC 2018.

Publication

The abstract of all the works selected for the contest will be published in the proceedings of the event.

Submission of works

Candidates must submit their work electronically at: link for the submition, choosing the track corresponding to the work (Master's or Doctorate).

A file with the full text of the thesis or dissertation, in pdf format, should be sent.

For the works selected in the first stage, a copy of the certificate of completion and approval of the thesis / dissertation, issued by the Coordination of the Course, will be requested, stating the name of the postgraduate program, the date of the defense, the name(s) of the advisor(s), the members of the examination board, the name of the candidate and the title of the thesis / dissertation.

Selection

The selection will be based on the evaluation of the entire thesis / dissertation. The theses and dissertations submitted to the CTDVC 2023 will be evaluated by a committee composed of researchers with recognized experience in the area of Computational Vision and experience in orientation of theses and dissertations.

The Committee of Reviewers will be chosen after the date of submission of the works, so there will be no teachers with submitted works in the Committee.

Registration at the event

The authors of the selected works must be enrolled in the event, and the enrollment may be made in the graduate student category.

Work presentation

Works accepted for the CTDVC 2023 need to be oral presented by the author in presential format.

The event will be held in a presential format. All accepted papers for oral and poster presentation will be presented by one of the authors in person.

Instructions for authors

  • The manuscript must be submitted electronically, as a PDF file.
  • The conference accepts articles written in English or Portuguese, but the manuscript title and abstract must be written in English.
  • The abstract should contain no more than 150 words, and the manuscript total length should not exceed 6 pages.
  • The manuscripts should be formatted using the following templates, which are blind-submission review-formatted templates (link for the templates).

Submission

All papers must be submitted electronically using the following link.

Policies

  • WVC 2023 reviewing is double blind, in that authors do not know the names of the area chair/reviewers of their papers, and area chairs/reviewers do not know the names of the authors
  • Avoid providing information that may identify the authors in the acknowledgments (e.g., co-workers and grant IDs).
  • Avoid providing links to websites that identify the authors. Violation of any of these guidelines will lead to rejection without review.
  • By submitting a manuscript to WVC 2023, the authors guarantee that it has not been previously published (or accepted for publication) in substantially similar form.
  • It is the authors' responsibility to ensure that all authors on their paper have registered their conflicts into CMT website. Conflicts are needed to resolve assignments to both reviewers and area chairs.
